The estimate on each card covers the vehicle, ocean freight, customs duty, GST and Australian compliance work — not just the hammer price. That is the figure to compare against local stock, because a Japanese auction price on its own tells you very little about what the car costs in your driveway.

How long does it take from winning the auction to delivery in Australia?

Typically 6 to 10 weeks. That covers Vehicle Import Approval, ocean freight, workshop compliance and the AVV inspection. Shipping schedules and workshop capacity are the two things that move the timeline.

Why are people movers so much cheaper out of Japan?

Japan's domestic market is built around people movers, so the supply of well-kept 7 and 8 seaters is far deeper than anything available locally — Alphards, Vellfires, Elgrands, Serenas, Noahs and Stepwgns turn over in volume every auction day. They also tend to carry lower kilometres and a documented service history for the age. Compare the landed cost estimate rather than the auction price to see what that difference is really worth.

Are parts and servicing available in Australia?

For the mainstream Toyota, Honda and Nissan drivetrains, yes — the same mechanical packages were sold here or are well supported by independent specialists. Some trim, interior and electronic parts are Japan-only and have to be ordered in, which is worth factoring into running costs.

Can I have the car checked before I commit to buying it?

Yes, and it happens before any final bid is submitted. Your deposit starts a Japan-side inspection, the report and real photos reach you on WhatsApp, and if the vehicle does not hold up we do not bid — your deposit stays fully refundable.
